Trip Itinerary

This tour has been created to address the limitations of train travel to the town of Aguas Calientes. It offers a unique landscape featuring the magnificent Chicon, Salkantay, and Veronica snow-capped mountains at different altitudes, as well as showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of the region. As you journey through, you’ll witness the development of the villages along the way.

On the first day, we pick up passengers in the morning, between 6:00 am and 6:30 am, and head towards Ollanta. We make a brief stop of 15 to 20 minutes to admire the archaeological center from the outside. Continuing our journey, we pause for another short break at Abra Malaga to enjoy the views of the snow-capped peaks. As we proceed, you’ll experience the contrasting temperatures and landscapes, including the lush jungles and fruit trees of the region. We reach the town of Santa Maria, accompanied by the sacred Willcamayu or Vilcanota River, the longest river in Peru. Continuing further, we pass through Santa Teresa and then head to Hidroelectrica for approximately 30 minutes. Here, we have a lunch included. From Hidroelectrica, we begin a 3-hour walk along the train route (optional: for an additional fee, you can take the foreign train for $40).

By 6:00 pm, we arrive at Aguas Calientes, where we settle into our hostels. We form a queue to obtain entry permits and enjoy a dinner included at 8:00 pm.

On the second day, we start early at 4:00 am with a breakfast box (lunch is also included). At 4:30 am, we head to the Ministry of Culture to secure our entrance tickets with the assigned quotas and make the necessary payment. Please note that the schedule may vary.

Please note: Entry tickets may not always be available for the second day and may be allocated for the morning of the third day instead.

On the third day, we begin the return walk to Hidroelectrica at 11:00 am, where the bus awaits us at 2:00 pm for the journey back to Cusco. By 9:30 pm, we arrive in Cusco, marking the end of the trip.
